Appeals and refusals
Spanish visa refusal appeals
Has a Spanish consulate refused your visa? We analyze the grounds for the decision and file the appeal on time so your plans can move forward.
Defense
A refusal can be appealed
Visa refusals at Spanish consulates are common, and they are often due to incomplete documents, doubts about the purpose of the stay or a strict reading of the requirements. The decision must state its reasons and indicate which appeal is available, before which body and within what deadline.
We analyze the grounds for the refusal and tell you whether it is better to appeal or to file a new, stronger application. If we appeal, we do it on time and with the arguments and evidence the decision did not consider.

How we work
What we do with your appeal
- We analyze the decision and the specific grounds for refusal: requirements not met, doubts about identity or purpose, insufficient documents.
- We choose the strategy: a reconsideration appeal to the consulate, judicial review, or a new application.
- Reconsideration appeal within one month of notification, before the body that issued the decision.
- Judicial review within two months before the High Court of Justice of Madrid, which hears appeals against consular visa refusals.
- We provide the evidence that strengthens your case and, where needed, request interim measures.
Deadlines run from the day after notification and are short. If you have just received a refusal, contact us as soon as possible.

Frequently asked questions
Your questions, answered
Should I appeal or reapply?
It depends on the grounds. If the consulate made a mistake or did not properly assess your documents, appealing is usually the right choice. If a requirement was missing that you now meet, reapplying may be faster.
Can I appeal from the US or Canada?
Yes. We file the appeal in Spain on your behalf, so you do not need to travel, and we keep you informed at every step.
The refusal does not explain the reasons. What can I do?
Refusals must be reasoned. A decision without sufficient reasons is precisely one of the arguments that can be raised on appeal.
