Frequently asked questions

Your questions, answered

Can I work with a non-lucrative visa?

No. The non-lucrative visa is designed for people who can live in Spain on their own means without working. If you plan to work remotely for clients or an employer outside Spain, the digital nomad visa may be a better fit.

Do I have to apply from my home country?

Visas such as the non-lucrative visa are applied for at the Spanish consulate with jurisdiction over your place of residence — for example, in the United States or Canada. Other permits, such as arraigo, are processed once you are already in Spain.

When should I renew my permit?

You can apply for renewal during the 60 calendar days before your permit expires and up to 90 days afterwards, although filing late can have consequences. We recommend preparing your documents in advance.

Shall we talk about your case?

Tell us about your situation and we will advise you on the best route to reach your goal in Spain.
