Spain digital nomad visa
Live in Spain while working remotely for companies or clients abroad. 2026 income requirements, eligibility and how we handle your application.
Mobility
Your work, from Spain
The residence permit for international remote workers — the Spain digital nomad visa — lets you live in Spain while working remotely for companies or clients based outside the country. It is regulated by Act 14/2013 and processed through a fast-track route, and your family can join you from the start.
You can apply from the US or Canada at the Spanish consulate, or directly in Spain if you are already here legally.

Requirements
What you need to show
- Income of at least 200% of the Spanish minimum wage: about €2,849 per month in 2026, plus 75% for the first family member and 25% for each additional one.
- Remote work for companies outside Spain. If you are self-employed, you can also have Spanish clients, as long as they do not exceed 20% of your work.
- A university or vocational degree, or a qualification from a recognized business school, or at least three years of professional experience.
- At least three months of prior relationship with your employer or clients, which must have been operating for at least one year.
- Health insurance with no co-payments or waiting periods, unless you are covered by Spanish Social Security or a bilateral agreement (the US and Canada both have one with Spain).
- A clean criminal record for the past five years.
Figures for family members vary between guides depending on how the minimum wage is calculated. We confirm the exact amount required by your consulate before you apply.

Your questions, answered
Can I apply as a freelancer?
Yes. You can show a professional relationship with clients outside Spain and work up to 20% of your time for Spanish clients.
Can my family come with me?
Yes. Your spouse or partner and your children can apply at the same time, without waiting for the general family reunification period.
Is there a special tax regime?
International remote workers may, in some cases, opt for Spain’s special regime for inbound workers (the “Beckham Law”). Plan it with a tax advisor before you move.
